The stock market has been around for over 400 years and it is not going away any time soon. So why am I suggesting you start investing there?
No matter what people say... no matter what happens in the economy... no matter what the talking heads on the TV and radio have to say. Regardless of Congress and the Senate not knowing their ass from their elbows. Regardless of what ever you can imagine short of the end of the world. People as a whole are going to do what ever it takes to care for and feed their families. What does that mean? Well you, me, your friends, family and neighbors will all be going to work and punching that time clock... 40 hours a week for 40 years. And that my friends is what you are investing in. People want to care for their families... so they go to work and contribute to society. Anything and everything you can think of is tied to the stock market in one form or another.
Let's clarify the "stock market" topic. The Stock Market is just a building in which shares of one company are bought and sold... Period! The stock market has little to do with the companies in which share are being traded there.
With that said let's look at where to get some good advice on investing. Yahoo Finance is my personal favorite. there are plenty of resources there and historical facts and figures. Google finance is another good free site. Search engines can point you in directions of plenty of financial sites... but! you will need to ask yourself what is it you are looking to do with your investing in the first place. Investing is something you need to do for your future if you plan to have a golden years retirement lifestyle. If you are ok with working for the rest of your life then hey that is fine too.
The power of compound interest is another factor that cannot be ignored. With compound interest the sooner you start the bigger the numbers get in the end. Or the sooner you reach your target $$ figure.
No matter which end of the spectrum you are currently at (just starting out or well advanced) dividend stock can quickly add to your income and increase your returns. Dividend stock range in price of a few dollars to a few hundred dollar per share. If you are just starting out, it all come down to getting the best Rate Of Return on your invested dollar. And let's not forget to keeping our money safe and the least amount of risk.
I really could go on and on with this subject but I'm going to stop here and give you my biggest piece of advice to both of you... the beginners and those of you who think you have it all under control.
Make a realistic plan on what you want from your money and your investments, look to find someone that is doing what you want to do. Getting a great return (over 20% per year minimum) Good consistency from their investing. Investing in a sound and well tested strategy. Referrals are great also.
